General questions about the Guidescope Affiliate Program

  1. Where can I find FAQs about the Guidescope software and service?
Our general FAQs are on another page.

  2. How can becoming a Guidescope Affiliate improve our customer retention?
When you co-brand the Guidescope Menu, your customers see your brand on their desktop and have a quick and easy way to get to your Web site.

Every day your competitors try to take away your customers by pitching to them with banner ads. If your customers are using our ad-filtering they are less likely to see your competitors' banner ads and your competitors are less likely to take them away.

And many of your customers will be grateful to you for introducing them to our service, which significantly improves their online experience.

  3. Our company uses banner ads. Does that mean we shouldn't promote Guidescope?
On the contrary: if you're spending money showing banner ads to customers you already have, you're wasting your money. After your customers install Guidescope, they won't be downloading your ads, and you won't be paying for the impressions that never occurred. You can spend your advertising budget where it belongs: on customers you don't already have.

  4. If my competitor joins your co-brand program, whose graphic do you use?
This is explained in the Affiliate Agreement. Basically, it's a race to the customer: if the customer downloads our software via the link from your site, your graphic gets displayed. If the customer downloads via the link from your competitor's site, your competitor's graphic gets displayed.

  5. Do we have to pay to participate in the Affiliate program?
There is currently no fee to join and no recurrent per-user charge to Affiliates. We may in the future offer additional services for a fee and may make other changes to this program.

  6. How do I find out how well our Guidescope Affiliate program is going?
Your password-protected Affiliate Member pages provide tables showing the total number of downloads and the number of downloads per day for people who follow your links.

  7. Do I get to see where each surfer we referred to Guidescope goes on the Web?
No. Guidescope's privacy policy prohibits us from reporting on individual users' movements, even though they are anonymous. Guidescope may in the future introduce a program to report aggregated statistics to Affiliates.

  8. Can we pay other companies to promote our co-brand links on their web sites?
The Affiliate Agreement currently permits co-brand links only from the Affiliate's Web site. We are planning an additional program to facilitate such promotions.

  9. Can we establish a large number of users for our co-brand version and then sell our co-brand graphic to another company?
The Affiliate Agreement does not permit assignment. We may consider this kind of proposal at a later date.

  10. What information about participation in the Affiliate program is kept private and confidential?
See the Affiliate section of our privacy policy.

Questions about using the Guidescope Affiliate Program

  1. Can our company set up different co-brand versions with different graphics?
Yes. Simply fill out a different application each time, and keep track of the different Affiliate URLs, Logins, and Passwords that you get back.

  2. Can I make a co-branded version for our company intranet for our employees?
Yes. If you are running our software on an internal server, then you can either sign up as an Affiliate, or set up your cobrand.txt file to use your local graphics, as described here.

  3. What can we put in our Graphic for the Guidescope menu?
Almost anything that fits. (The Affiliate Agreement lists prohibited matter such as adult content.) Some companies simply use their name. If your name is too long to fit, you may want to use your initials and/or logo instead. Style guideline are here.

  4. What graphics can we use on our site to link to the Guidescope Web Site?
Only graphics provided by us in our Affiliate Link Gallery. If you wish to propose a special graphic, you can contact us using this form (check "Cobrand information"), but you may not use it unless it is approved by us. Protecting our trademark and trade dress is very important to us.

  5. Can I submit an animated graphic for the Guidescope Menu?
No. Only static co-brand graphics are allowed on the Guidescope Menu.
